Understanding the distribution of skills across the population is fundamental to understanding incomes and their distribution, and productivity and profits – that are ultimately the big drivers of our living standards and well-being at the individual and national levels. This Program embraces the whole gamut of how skills are formed through investments in education and training across the lifecourse; and it connects this to productivity and wages in the workplace, our attachment to the workforce across our lives, to issues around where we live and work, how we work, and to our impacts at home on our own children's skills. Economics and statistical evidence play a big role in our work in this area.
