The Program is concerned with the functioning of labor markets in developing countries, with a particular focus on employment and earnings both in wage employment and in self-employment. Empirical and theoretical examinations of labor markets are both encouraged, especially in a dynamic context. While macroeconomic and microeconomic approaches are both welcome, highest priority will be given to market-level analyses - that is, how employment and wages are determined in each labor market and how conditions in one labor market affect those in another.
