This Program analyzes how insights from behavioral economics can be used to explain human behavior in the labor market. The research conducted within the program area builds upon evidence from economics and psychology and underlines the importance of individuals' social preferences and personality characteristics such as risk attitudes, trust, patience or perseverance for understanding their educational choices and success in the labor market. The results from this research area provide insights for policy makers who aim to design better institutions that can improve work relations, the functioning of organizations and the acquisition of human capital.
